At one time in the not so distant past, bigger was synonymous with better, faster and stronger.

A bigger plant equaled more production, but thanks to technological advancements in computer software like Solidworks 3D Cad, modern aggregate processing equipment is being designed and developed with an emphasis on increasing plant efficiency, reducing size and weight and reducing the overall cost of ownership by increasing in spec uptime production and reducing maintenance and downtime. To the end user this means that the next generation of equipment is highly efficient and in many cases, lighter in weight and requires a considerably smaller footprint to run.

Solidworks allows engineers to focus more on plant design and spend less time on drawing. By combining state of the art 3D technology with powerful simulation, analytical capabilities, data management, photo realistic rendering, and the ability to test against a wide range of parameters like durability, static and dynamic response, motion of assembly and heat transfer, engineers and designers are able to be more innovative while testing new designs and concepts.

Designers can immediately see the effects of changes made in real time on the computer screen without ever burning metal or producing a prototype. They can change components, alter designs and try new scenarios, then analyze the new data and move forward from that point. Any design oversight or error becomes evident and many obstacles and feasibility issues can be addressed and overcome in the planning and design stages well before designs hit the production floor where oversights and errors are most costly to resolve.

The ELRUS’ MS612 six-by-twelve-foot three-deck  Screen Plant was designed using this technology and the result offers producers a high capacity plant that is 24,180 lbs. lighter than its larger counterparts, is seven feet shorter in length and 14” lower in height. It’s easily moved with no disassembly, permits or the addition of extra axles, all the while maintaining or increasing the production of the larger screens.

The future of crushing and screening is here and Better, Faster and Smaller may well be the phrase that captures it best.
