How to Remove Natural Fines and Small Rounds to Increase Fracture

ELRUS Screen Jaw used to eliminate natural fines and round rock.In the crushing business, having the right equipment is crucial to ensuring you are maximizing profit and minimizing costs. For crushing operators who work in a pit context, pea-sized natural rounds and fines are inevitable and must be eliminated to meet aggregate specifications for road and concrete applications.

Particularly in western areas of North America where pits are more common than quarries, getting rid of natural sand and pea-gravel rounds is a major problem for crushing operators who need to create material with a high degree of fracture.

How do you determine the most effective and efficient way to optimize your feed and remove natural fines and peas sized round rock?

There are a number of ways to get rid of natural fines and marble sized pea gravel in your crushing plant, and each site might require a slightly different approach to the problem. If you are in a location where there is not a lot of oversize, and you want to create several types of products on your spread efficiently, then consider the Screen Jaw Plant.

What are the advantages of having a Screen Jaw Plant?

First, there are two components on one chassis on a Screen Jaw Plant, the screen and the jaw. This lowers your capital cost, reduces your moving costs with fewer loads, and reduces set-up time after a move.

Second, a Screen Jaw Plant enables you to screen product prior to it reaching the jaw. You won’t have fines going into the jaw which will prematurely wear out your jaw plates.

Third, you can make up to four products at once with a Screen Jaw Plant.

1. Natural fines coming out the back end.

2. Pea rock coming out of the cross-conveyor

3. Crushed product coming out the front.

4. Sand eliminator belt can go over top of a natural fines belt so you can have an  80/20 split, or 70/30 split between sand and natural fines.

The Screen Jaw Plant will take care of separating out the fines, the sand, and the pea gravel from the desirable crushing material.

You can have a Screen Jaw Plant for any size of jaw, including one as small as 2036 or as large as 3054.

The screen deck needs to be built to handle the size of the payload that will be on the top deck.

The Screen Jaw Plant is a great solution for crushers who want to create several products at once with one plant. We call it a “One Man Band”. It is transportable without disassembly,(unless you use a larger jaw) and it is extremely versatile.

Overall cost of running the plant won’t decrease. However, where it will save you money is with moving costs, set up, and capital cost because you only need one chassis instead of two.  Depending on your operation, you may need some loose conveyors here and there to tie everything together which would increase costs.

If you need big jaw crushing performance in a portable, easy to move package, then a Screen Jaw Plant would make sense for your operation.

Also, if you want to turn unwanted natural round pea gravel into manufactured sand, you can do so with a VSI’s (Vertical Shaft Impactor). With some investment up front, you can turn pea gravel into another revenue stream for your business.
